Back from the Point and I have to admit, I am NOT a themepark fan! Too, too many people to make the experience one of my favorites. The kids had a great time, though we did get too much sun at the waterpark on day 2.
As I watched the multitudes drift in a circle, I enjoyed teasing Zach’s buddy, Adam, who came with us for the trip. Otherwise, the many bodies sharing the chlorinated river we drifted in reminded me of the lack of real beauty found in man-made rivers & ponds. Give me the solitude and beauty of real rivers and lakes. Maybe next year we could go on a canoe trip up north somewhere for fun! Nature is so much more bountiful…

My husband, my youngest son and daughter, two friends and our church youth group are headed to Cedar Point today! The best part: my oldest daughter is working there and I will see her after a 8-week separation! I can’t believe she’s been there for that long. It’s really amazing to me. Anyway, I have yet to decide if I will ride very many of CP’s amazing, daredevilish roller coasters! Maybe I should pick up some Dramamine….more in a few days.
It’s been a crazy summer so far! Starting with our weekend at The Depot, which was fantastic, by the way — I have been teaching 8th grade English for the past 6 weeks. Whew! Kinda like spending time with a group of big 3-year-olds (some of them). Anyway, It actually was a great experience and I think I’d be willing to teach next summer, if they ask me.
The Depot weekend was fabulous - my favorite experience was the Drumming workshop. Learning about how the leader sets the “heartbeat of Mother Earth” and then each drummer adds his or her own voice to the mix. I’m going to be shopping for a drum of my own (we used mini-bongos) before too long.
Tomorrow, we leave for Cedar Point, where we have a great little cottage in the campground where the Youth are Tenting it (no hard ground for me!). We are staying an extra day, so that will be great. A mini vacation….
Next week, I’m on vacation from tutoring my Korean students also. While I love the job, it’s great to have a break.
WRITING GOAL: write every morning beginning next week on Thursday!
